Mid Devon Dogs and Small Animal Care Services

Welcome to Mid Devon Dogs

Mid Devon Dogs is located in the heart of Devon in the rural South West of England. We provide a professional dog walking, one to one dog training and pet sitting service in and around Copplestone.

The company was founded in early 2016. In 2019, Kate joined Mid Devon Dogs as a partner, bringing with her a wealth of experience working with an array of animals while working at a local branch of the RSPCA for over 16 years. In 2019 Kate completed a pro dog training qualification to fulfil her dream of helping owners and their dogs.

In 2022, Kate took on full ownership of the business. Under her expert guidance, Mid Devon Dogs will continue to offer its loyal customers the same high quality of service and experienced care they have come to expect.

As well as caring for cats and dogs, the Mid Devon Dogs team has lots of experience caring for rabbits, rats, birds and hamsters, to name a few. We take a lot of pride in our work and always strive towards maintaining the very highest standards of care for any animal that we look after, whether big or small!

We are DBS checked and fully insured, so you can be safe in the knowledge that your pet is in good hands.

About Kate

I began my career working with animals after graduating from Bicton College with a Higher National Diploma in Animal Care in 2000.

I then went on to work as an Animal Care Assistant at the RSPCA. I dedicated 16 years looking after and rehoming a variety of animals in that time.

My last 10 years working at the RSPCA were spent specialising working with different breeds, and temperaments of dogs. Many of which had differing behavioural issues and training needs. This has given me immense pleasure and reward helping many dogs find their forever home.

Working with the charity was a very rewarding job and this is where my passion for dog training and behaviour really started.

Having already completed numerous RSPCA training over the years, in 2019 I completed the Pro Dog Trainer course with Absolute Dogs and qualified as a Pro Dog Trainer.

Testimonials

Kate is a complete delight to be around and has been an absolute godsend.

Having two gorgeous rescue donkeys from The Donkey Sanctuary and a very precious, hard of hearing elderly cat, we were very worried about finding someone who could cater for our particular needs.

Kate has shown the utmost professionalism with fantastic attention to detail; her communication is excellent and always puts our mind at rest.

We have never seen the donkeys’ barn look so immaculate – not one piece of straw out of place!

Thank you, Kate.

Victoria Frances

Kate has helped us with our two English Setters, both of which are rescue dogs. Kate is fantastic with the dogs, and is very knowledgeable in dog behaviour and training techniques.

She has concentrated on focus and basic recall work, and provided us with the skills and confidence to continue to train our dogs.

We hope to continue doing further training with Kate in the coming months as our newest rescue continues to settle in, and would be happy to recommend her to anyone looking for some professional help with their own dogs.

Kate helped us with some specific training needs for our young spaniel Ted.

Kate was great to work with and Ted (and I) have benefited from her input.

Mid Devon Dogs are very professional and experienced and a joy to work with.

We hadn’t recalled what a handful a new puppy could be until we got Spud (an 8 week old Springer spaniel).

Thankfully Kate came to the rescue and showed Spud and me how to handle each other! He is still only 5 months old but has settled down really well.

The techniques Kate did with Spud were simple, fun but very effective and Spud is always happy to see her.
